The Energy Regulatory Authority has given its assent, as a special case, to a proposal by Oyutolgoi LLC to set up a 24-mw diesel power station and distribution network. The permission is valid for three years starting from February 12, 2010. The plant will be expected to meet the company’s operational needs until the mine is connected to the 220-kw power network. Once the connection has been established, the diesel plant will be kept on as an extra electricity source.
