Austrian Prime Minister Werner Faymann welcomed the increasing importance of Mongolia as a partner of the European Union (EU) in Central and East Asia, at a reception he hosted for visiting Mongolian Prime Minister Suchbaatar Batbold on Tuesday in Vienna.


According to a news release from the Austrian Federal Chancellery, the meetings between Faymann and Batbold focused on economic and political issues.


Faymann hailed the good bilateral relations between Austria and Mongolia. "Austria and Mongolia are connected by a good economic cooperation and through a series of scientific and cultural collaborations," he said.


During the meeting, Batbold also expressed his hope for a deepening cooperation with the EU.


The Mongolian prime minister also met with representatives of the United Nations (UN) and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) during his visit in Austria.
