While Mongolia’s national revenue has increased three times in the past five years, it is possible that Mongolian economy increases this year by 8% more than previously planned, and this despite the current bad situation in the country’s agricultural sector, said Parliamentary Speaker D. Demberel at the opening of Parliament’s spring session this Monday.

“Prices of our mineral resources tend to rise from the previous year. A preparation for possessing strategically important new mineral deposits and putting them into economic circulation have been principally completed on Government level,” added the Parliamentary speaker.

He also stated that approximately MNT 500 billion is budgeted for investments and other actions in 2010. Meanwhile, MNT 30.1 billion is to be spent on the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, MNT20.6 billion on supporting employment, and MNT9.5 billion on implementing the “Mongolian Livestock” program.

The Speaker has called for morehelp for the herding community who are suffering from this year’s zud, underlining the importance of an immediate support from the State and Government in solving problems linked to the loss of cattle in the animal husbandry sector.

According to Demberel, the Parliament plans to discuss 28 package issues this spring session and some 100 bills and resolutions are expected to be discussed in total by Parliament.

Among bills to be discussed will be bills on capital securities guarantee, on minimum wage , on budget stability, on gender equality, on election of the State Great Khural, on local election; bills to amend the Constitution, the 2010 Budget Law, the Law on State Great Khural, the law on session procedure of State Great Khural; a draft on the Tavan Tolgoi investment Agreement, a draft Parliament resolution on setting up a copper processing plant, on ratification of a Strategic Unified Policy on Mongolia ‘s Railway Development, on reserve oil products, on ratification of “Mongolian Livestock’ national program,  a draft law on police....
